Disney announced August 15 that it will restore the Yeti audio-animatronic on Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom, ending nearly two decades of the attraction operating without the iconic figure's full motion capabilities. The restoration project prompted Disney to schedule an extended ride closure, marking a significant maintenance undertaking for one of the park's most recognizable but long-malfunctioning attractions. The original animator behind the Yeti discussed the restoration efforts in subsequent coverage, confirming Disney's commitment to returning the beloved animatronic to its intended operational state.
